A Unique Wedding Venue in Ireland
Welcome to our Home!
Cloughjordan House is located on the edge of Cloughjordan village in Co. Tipperary.
We, Peter and Sarah Baker together with our 3 children have the privilege of living in what is a wonderful old Country House. We are delighted to be able to share its history and charm with you for your wedding celebration.
The House dates back to the early 1600’s and our family have lived here since 1914.
What many have described as a French style manor, is set back from a tree lined country road, and sits within eight acres of sweeping lawn, ancient trees and walled gardens.
Our 17th century Ballroom stands at the West wing of the house, the focal point of which is a large open fireplace, a romantic ceremony room which is the centre piece for our Weddings and which then comes to life in the evening for dancing.
The double doors from the Ballroom leading to our beautifully lined marquee overlooking the lawns and wooded area, form a perfectly charming dining room for up to 150 guests.
What do we offer that is so different from the norm?
Our aim is to make our house a home from home for you and your guests for the duration of your stay, a place where you can bring family and friends together in private and relaxed surroundings for a very different and memorable country house Wedding.
Cloughjordan House has always been a great party house and that is what we want you to imagine: your wedding as a weekend Country House party! So whether its Rounders, Touch Rugby, Table Tennis or Croquet on the lawn, playing giant Jenga or sitting around our unique ‘patio heaters’ which are basically old rusty wheelbarrows filled with burning logs, you will experience a real party atmosphere from start to finish!
Superb food is our main hallmark of which more detail can be found under sample menu.
Cloughjordan House has 9 tastefully decorated bedrooms with all our toiletries hand made from Burren Perfumery and can accommodate 18 guests. For 2015 we are very excited to be able to offer the first of our newly converted Cow-House Rooms which will sleep an extra 18-27 guests. In addition 50 of your remaining guests can be accommodated in Cloughjordan Village all within walking distance. We also have 2 other large country houses available for Bed and Breakfast and self catering within 5 miles. We can arrange transport for your guests at the end of the night to these. The total accommodation within 4 miles will be for at least 130 people. There is also ample Hotel accommodation available in Nenagh and Roscrea, both within 10 miles. Accommodation in the Bridal Suite is of course complimentary to the Bride and Groom.
Our Passion is Food…
We’re passionate about our food provenance and quality. We believe in the use of local artisan produce to make simple, elegant and wholesome food. (Sarah trained in Ballymaloe and we love the principles and ethos cultivated by Darina Allen and her team)
Happy free range pigs on our farm provide our pork and bacon, clucking hens provide our free range eggs. We also have a walled organic garden bursting with fruit, vegetables and salads where we harvest fresh produce for your meal. What our farm doesn’t provide, we source from local artisan producers.
Our dining style is relaxed, familial and informal. The wedding meal is served in the marquee after drinks and bites in the adjacent ballroom or on the lawn. We set up long banquet style or round tables and present the food in a sharing style on wooden boards and colourful platters. This creates a wonderful atmosphere and much more resembles a family style meal than the more traditional hotel style silver service banquet.
We can also provide a family meal the night prior to your big day or a BBQ on the day following your wedding.
We have a custom designed covered in BBQ area where the meat is cooked in fire pits in view of the guests and salads breads and garden vegetables are displayed buffet style for all to help themselves.
What we're all about...
Food from the garden, flowers and candles in jam jars or gorgeous arrangements, twinkly lights, decor foraged from the grounds, DIY styling, wildlife- dogs, hens, pigs and ponies, a family to look after your family, fires in old wheelbarrows in the garden at night, cosy escapes for the young and old, a home from home to make your own for a weekend, a wedding with a difference that's uniquely yours!
